This Skin I'm In
This title is borrowed from a current exhibition at El Museo del Barrio in New York City, which features Dominican artists’ work with skin and other membranes, and which currently features Limber Vilorio’s Traje para caminar por Santo Domingo. This website explores Vilorio's Traje para caminar por Santo Domingo in the critical essay, which juxtaposes Vilorio's explicit body performance with Ema Villanueva's Pasionaria – March for Dignity. The gallery allows viewers to see video stills from Vilorio's recorded performance in Santo Domingo as well as images of the suit's installation at El Museo del Barrio. An interview with Viloiro can be read by clicking on "About." For further research, please see the Bibliography and Contact links.
