The Mapuche Theater Project (led by Miriam Álvarez, Lorena Cañuqueo and Carolina Sorín) is a political theater project founded in 2001, framed within the general contemporary indigenous Mapuche movement in Bariloche, Río Negro province, Argentina.
Abstract
Pewma
The play is based on a particular type of dream, the pewma,
which has the power of transmitting messages to its dreamer. The memory
of the Mapuche people, heavy with the traumatic experience of genocide,
is performed in the present through this dream.
