Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1968, Eleonora Fabião lives in New York since 2000, where she is a PhD candidate in the Department of Performance Studies, New York University, sponsored by Capes/BR. She has a double undergraduate degree in Acting and Journalism, and a Master degree in Social History of Culture, with a concentration in Art History (PUC-RJ). Since 1997 she has been a professor of Acting and Dramaturgy at the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. During the 90s she performed in many performances as a member of two permanent theater companies: Centro de Demolição e Construção do Espetáculo (directed by Aderbal Freire-Filho), and Ko Produções (directed by Ivana Leblon). In 2000 she presented her first solo work, conceived and performed by her - "Alice", and adaptation of "Alice in Wonderland", and "Through the looking glass", by Lewis Carroll. The dramaturgy in "Alice" announces the beggining of the artistic investigation that she has been pursuing since then; since 2000, Eleonora cretaes performances, videos, and performative instalations. As a performer her ethics and aesthetics is based on the exploration of spectator-performer relationship: she is interested in disturbing the dichotomy "passive-active" through a search of a "co-labor-ação" (co-labor-action). The separation between ficcion and non-ficcion is deconstructed through corporeal and dramaturgical operations. She envisions the creation of hybrid spaces, situations hardly classifiable. She is above all interested in investigating the "poetic body" and its organic creative, political and communicational possibilities. Performed works since 2000 include “CH-air”, “Pupil”, “Addictive”, “Micro-interferences,” “Re-veiling” e “Trigram”. In Mexico (June 2001) she performed "Receptive Body" during the Second Hemispheric Institute Annual Encuentro. In the Third Encuentro (Lima, July 2002), she presented "Giro Piece". She is now working on a new project entitled "Tralha".

Nascida no Rio de Janeiro em 1968 Eleonora Fabião reside em Nova Iorque desde de 2000 onde vem realizando na New York University seu Doutorado em Estudos da Performance financiada pela CAPES. Formada como atriz e jornalista, mestre em História Social da Cultura, especialização em História da Arte (PUC-RJ) a partir de 1997 passa a lecionar cursos de interpretação teatral e dramaturgia na Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. Ao longo dos anos 90 atua em inúmeros espetáculos teatrais junto à dois grupos permanentes de pesquisa: Centro de Demolição Construção do Espetáculo (direção Aderbal Freire-Filho) e Ko Produções (Direção Ivana Leblon). Em 2000 estréia seu primeiro espetáculo solo e direção – “Alice” – adaptação dos romances “Alice nos País das Maravilhas” e “Através do Espelho” de Lewis Carroll. A dramaturgia de “Alice” anuncia o início da investigação artística que vem sendo realizada desde então; a partir de 2000, Eleonora cria performances, videos e instalações performativas. Como performer sua éticoestética baseia-se na exploração da relação espectador-performer: interessa desestabilizar a dicotomia passivo-ativo em busca de uma co-labor-ação. A separação entre ficção e não-ficção é igualmente desconstruída através de operações corporais e dramatúrgicas que visam a criação de um espaço híbrido, mutante, dificilmente classificável. Interessa sobretudo investigar o “corpo poético” e suas possibilidades orgânicas, criativas, políticas e comunicacionais. Performances realizadas a partir do ano 2000 incluem: “CH-air”, “Pupil”, “Addictive”, “Micro-interferences,” “Re-veiling” e “Trigram”. No México (junho 2001) apresentou “Receptive Body” no Encontro Internacional de Performance promovido pelo Hemispheric Institute. No Encontro seguinte (julho 2002 - Peru) apresentou “Giro Piece.” Atualmente trabalha um novo projeto entitulado “Tralha.”
