Relationscapes
Through a series of structured experiments we will examine political, social, and organizational choreographies already at work in public spaces. Together we will define and explore these intersecting systems, using improvisation and performance as tactics to increase awareness and agency within them. Workshop activities will include shared movement practices, attunement exercises, guided sensory walks and dérives, and site-responsive performance. Artists and researchers of all disciplines are invited to participate. Please wear clothing you can move in and bring something to write with.
Biography
The Movement Party is a collaborative platform for investigating physical, environmental, and social awareness through dance. Comprised of a group of independent artists living and working across the United States, Movement Party members share a commitment to exploring how movement can enrich our daily lives, social practices, and forms of communication. Through public performances, workshops, and community programming, Movement Party projects increase access to dance while building a more sustainable arts ecosystem based on empowerment and reciprocity.
