Marat-Sade premiered at La Candelaria in 1966. The original play, Marat/Sade, was written in German by Peter Weiss and incorporated the dramatic styles of Artaud and Brecht. The story is one of class struggle and suffering, and asks the question of whether revolution comes from changing society or individual.
