This project proposes an embodied reflection on forced displacement in Colombia; the machete evokes the body's dissapearance, the communal graves, and the slaughter.
Biography
Yorlady Ruiz is a poet and a visual artist from Pereira, Colombia. In 2002, She won the National Poetry Prize at the 7th Festival of Poetry in Medellín and she won the Carlos Drews Castro Art Award in Pereira. Her creative work, in the form of performance and installation, focuses on issues of gender and violence in Colombia. She has published two books of poetry, Versos para tu fresca Alborada (1998) and Novela Inconclusa (2001).
