Africali

Africali is a photographic register of afro men and women walking through the sunny city of Cali (Colombia). The pictures of the characters are cut out from their original context and appear to be floating. These sticker images act as stencils and invite placement on the gallery walls--inhabiting a bidemensional context as a floating punctum that can moves anywhere and becomes useful for us as an instrument of memory. 

Biography

José Horacio Martínez is a Colombian artist and university professor. Since 1988, he has exhibited at both the national and international level. In 1994 he won first prize in the 35th Salón Nacional and the Colombian prize for painting. Currently, Martínez is the Cultural Director of the contemporary art space Espacio Temporal.
