Drying Process

This video documents an action performed at a coffee estate located in Heredia, Costa Rica, in one of the courtyards used for drying coffee—a process by which the coffee beans lose their moisture. In this case we have replaced the “golden beans” with computer keys. The action takes approximately ten minutes and uses about one hundred thousand keys.

Biography

Oscar Figueroa Chaves holds a degree in Art and Visual Communication from the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica, where he has also studied Sociology. His artistic career includes various individual and collective exhibitions as well as conferences and workshops in Costa Rica, Mexico, Italy, Spain, Taiwan, and the United States, among others.
