Call for Performers | CEGOS (Blind)

Call for Performers: CEGOS (Blind), an artistic street intervention, seeks participants for a day-long action in New York City on October 5th, 2014

Brazil Encuentro7of98 180x180
NOTE: This performance has been postponed to Sunday, 10/5 at 2:30 pm, starting in Union Square.

Dozens of executives dressed in suits and ties and carrying briefcases, covered head to toe in mud, walk in slow motion with their eyes blindfolded. As they walk, they intermingle with the street passengers, destabilizing the daily flow of the financial and political life of the city. Each iteration ofCEGOS is different, adapting to the people and the city that surround it. Past performances have taken place in Paris, São Paulo, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Rio de Janeiro, and Funchal, Portugal, as well as all over Brazil.

If you are interested in participating in the performance, you can report in costume to Coles Sports Center, 181 Mercer Street, at 10am on Sunday morning, October 5th. For questions regarding participation contact smw515@nyu.edu.

Costumes
Individuals will be required to provide their own clothing for the performance.

Men
suit, shirt, tie (optional), slacks, dress shoe

Women
skirt or slacks, shirt, blazer, dress shoe

Costume Tips: We suggest buying pieces from a thrift store as they will be all covered with clay. Beige, white or light brown colors are more easily covered with clay. Wigs make for easier removal of the clay from hair. Additionally, all participants should wear a swim suit underneath their costume and bring a towel and a pair of slippers to dry off after the performance.
