Povo Da Rua

This performance is a fruit of labor of an investigation of types of popular Brazillians (represented through musical theater) and of the study of "afro-amerindian" culture in Brazil. The spectacle develops around a day in the life of Doña Ursulina, a street vendor selling sweets, and Ze Pelintra, the saint of her devotion. They establish a friendship during a sale, while they tell each other the adventures of their lives. The performance paints a rich portrait through character archetypes and street culture, intertwining free form with the language of masked theater.

Biography

Marise Noguiera is an actress trained in the performing arts at the University of Rio de Janeiro (UNIRIO). In 1991 she participated in Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett with the Sutil Theater Company under the direction of Carlos Felipe Hirsch of the CEF Theater in Curitiba. She joined the theater group Moitara that has for twelve years developed an investigation of the language of theatrical mask. Along with this group, Noguiera offered several workshops making use of the mask and worked for the last three years on the shows Mascara en Enscena and Rifinfim in Medellín, with a theatrical speech in O Jogo das Mascaras and with a presentation at the show A Mascara Energia na do Ator.
