Aside from working on feature-length fictional films, Magdiel Aspillaga has produced a series of short video documentaries that record the realities of the economically shattered town of Aguacate in the Cuban countryside. After the dismantling of the local sugarmill and the subsequent closure of the train system, the town became isolated and atrophied. In unembellished videos, Aspillaga records the local landscape and its population.
