Re-framing History
Susan Meiselas’ photographs of the insurrection against Somoza’s National Guard were published around the world and collected in a book. Ten years later, she returned to Nicaragua to track down the people, guerillas, Somocistas, and bystanders pictured in her original photographs which later became the film Pictures from a Revolution. Excerpts from the film are shown in conjunction with the original photographs for this exhibition. Re-Framing History extends the cycle that began with an historical event that deeply affected those close to it and continued to be of importance to them long after it ceased to be a focus of world attention.
