Colombia: Yesterday, Today and—Tomorrow?
This installation consists of a large mirror, extending to the ground, with a tattered Colombian flag in the middle. Spectators see their entire bodies reflected in front of the flag, a symbol of the fatherland and pride.
Biography
Lucy Silva was born in Pasto (Colombia) in 1952 and studied Arts at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and at Taller 4Rojo in Bogotá. She specialized in color engraving at S.W. Hayter's studio in Paris. Silva lived outside Colombia for more than a decade and now resides in Bogotá, where she practices collage and graphic design.
