“La niña de la noche: is a vaudeville puppet show, made in collaboration with the Escuela de Música Popular de Avellaneda (Buenos Aires) and premiered in 1998 in Galpón de Catalinas. The performers are part of the “second generation Catalinas” (the puppeteers, actors, lighting crew, director, and composer are the children of “first generation” Catalinas performers), demonstrating that the last 18 years of work in the field of popular theater have created a space where parents and children can converge personally and artistically. This project begins as a montage of childlike images, tales, fables, and stories rescued from the director’s memory. Among these “Switch on the Night” by Ray Bradbury stands out. “La niña de la noche is not a version or adaptation of this story, but rather a song to the night and to the magic of its inhabitants. Thus appear  “ranas bataclanas”, tropical crickets, dancing stars, mosquito mariachis, tanguero cats, the seductive moon, the sinister owl, and Morena and Alvarito who walk together through this dark space lit by the enchantment of these nocturnal characters.
