A poetic look at the violence- both external and internal- wreaking havoc in the lives of black men, In the Last Car is one man’s story whose implications reach far beyond his life. From everyday encounters to relationship struggles, from substance abuse to subway rides, protagonist Agaceez’s lyrical exploration is poignant as he is kidnapped by some very dark characters, and manages to discover his purpose. The play is an intimate glance at the struggles taking place in the last car, and other places that too often go overlooked.
