Hemispheric Dialogues invites key thinkers to lead a discussion about some of the pressing issues of our time. The series envisions informal yet sustained dialogue among faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, artists, and members of the community.

For the discussion, Faye and Laurence have suggested the following:

Faye Ginsburg is Director of the Center for Media, Culture, and History at NYU where she is also the David B. Kriser Professor of Anthropology and founder and co-director of the NYU Council for the Study of Disability. With her research partner, the anthropologist Rayna Rapp, she is currently working on a book entitled Disability, Personhood and the "New Normal" in 21st Century America with funding from the NEH. 

Laurence Parent is a PhD student in Humanities at Concordia University. She holds a MA in Critical Disability Studies from York University and a BA in Political Science from Université du Québec à Montréal. She lives in Montréal and is involved within the Québec Disability Rights Movement.
