Public Exercise #1 (Homeless Photographers)

This exercise is the first of a series that examines social interactions in public space among people across class, race, gender and sexuality. For Public Exercise #1 (Homeless photographers) the artist invited three homeless people to take photographs with viewers of ongoing performances part of the Encuentro 2014 Urban Interventions. The exercise aimed at disrupting people's perceptions of a homeless person by forcing them to be at close proximity with one.

Biography

Camilo Godoy is an artist whose work addresses the politics of citizenship and is concerned in examining the role of law in the construction of political and social meanings. He is a graduate of Parsons The New School for Design and Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts.
