In order to further deepen the void produced by both the absence of subaltern voices and the impossibility of hearing them in public spaces, I amplified the audio tracks from the two previous interventions (Estadio Chile I and II) in the interior of the coal mine “El Chiflón del Diablo.” This mine, which is located in the southern Chilean city of Lota and which lies 850 meters below sea level, was closed in 1997, causing acute social problems in area, like unemployment and poverty. At the end of the programmed descent into the mine and once the audio track had ended, an intense silence was neutralized by a whale's song.
