The Muses
Cabaret collage by Alina Troyano, writer and creator of the Carmelita Tropicana persona. In the eighties Carmelita was described as a “Carmen Miranda cloaked in dangerous fruits.” Las Musas looks at the creation of a persona, and examines icons/iconoclasts Sor Juana, a Mexican 17th century poet/nun, and Marlene Dietrich, a German-born 20th century actor/cabaret singer.
