Performance Training: The Production of Relational Dynamics

Conveners: Matteo Bonfitto & Cassiano Sydow Quilici

Actor training permeates creative processes in the theatre, irrespective of artistic genre. However, if we look at it through broader lenses, the idea of training can be enhanced significantly. Among the implications that emerged from this process it is not possible to overlook the dissolution of various dichotomies, such as ‘life and art’, ‘body and mind’, ‘fictional and real’. Concerning such a dissolution, it paved the way for the emergence of practices as well as for the inclusion of aspects which had not been explored before as artistic training; among them, the use of autobiography and the exploration of interdisciplinary material played an important role in this process.
