Biographies

Jonathan Sterne teaches in the Department of Art History and Communication Studies at McGill University. He is author of MP3: The Meaning of a Format; The Audible Past: Cultural Origins of Sound Reproduction; and numerous articles on media, technologies and the politics of culture. He is also editor of The Sound Studies Reader. | sterneworks.org

Brian Massumi is a social theorist, writer and philosopher who teaches in the Communication Sciences Department at the Université de Montréal. He is widely known for his English-language translations of French philosophy and is the author, most recently, of Semblance and Event: Activist Philosophy and the Occurrent Arts (2011).

Marcial Godoy-Anativia is a sociocultural anthropologist and the Associate Director of the Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics. He is Editor, with Jill Lane, of e-misférica, the Institute's trilingual online journal, and co-editor of Rhetorics of Insecurity: Belonging and Violence in the Neoliberal Era (NYU Press, 2013).
