Sable International

The title Sable International signifies in French and English. The performer scatters sand and travels with movement representing Legba/Ellegua, god of crossings and crossroads in Santería/Vodoun/Orisha. The performer—clad in white like a nurse or priestess—and those who follow her represent immigrants from lands of sand to North America.

Biography

Rosamond S. King is a TriniGambian writer, performer and artist. Her work is informed by history, a sense of play, and her several cultures and communities. She has performed throughout the Americas and in Africa and Europe. Her training includes ballet, West African dance, circus arts and butoh. She is an Assistant Professor at Brooklyn College.
