Wilson Díaz Polanco was born in Pitalito. He currently lives and works in Cali, Colombia. His artistic project is based in several axis related to nature, desire, and political and historical reality. He performs this project through painting, art actions, video, and music. Díaz’ interest goes toward the construction of a local artistic scenario. This has brought him closer to management, organization, circulation, and production activities, developed through the Helena collective –he is a member since 1998 ( He has participated, among others, in the VII Encuentro of the Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics, Universidad Nacional Bogotá, Colombia, 2009. He has also been part of Visionarios, Audiovisual en Latinoamérica 2008-2009, Museo Reina Sofía, España, and he has collaborated with El Parqueadero, Biblioteca Luis Angel Arango, Bogotá, Colombia; Museo de Arte de Bolivia, Bolivia; Museo de Arte Moderno y Centro de la imagen, Ciudad de México, México; Alianza Francesa de Buenos Aires; Instituto Itau Cultural, Sao Paulo, Brasil. His work incorporates different styles, subjects, and techniques, through which he expresses an acute awareness of social and cultural issues affecting Colombia.
