Interns


Maria E. SchirmerMaria E. Schirmer is a MA student at New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study where she is combining her love of theatre, education and activism into an interdisciplinary thesis exploring the role of theatre as a tool for social change.  She received a BA in Theatre from Marymount Manhattan College and has also studied at the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin, Ireland, the Neighborhood Playhouse and The Michael Howard Studios in NYC.  Maria is actively involved in creative and administrative duties with the political theatre company Stone Soup, performing in seven shows, co-authoring two and assisting with development, outreach and educational programming. She is also a member of the Literary Wing at the Lark Play Development Center. An avid traveler, Maria recently returned from three months backpacking in southern Mexico.


people_jchlapeckaJordan Chlapecka is an MA student in New York University’s department of Performance Studies. His interests vary from embodiment to digital performance and dance. He received a BA in advertising and anthropology from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Jordan has conducted research on immigration in Tucson, Arizona, where he explored human rights allocation through photographs. He also produced an artistic ethnography on the annual mudding of the St. Francis de Assisi Church in Taos, New Mexico. Jordan's current thesis is examining the appropriation of dance techniques from the first form of mainstream broadcast dance: American Bandstand.
